OSINT

OSINT stands for Open-Source Intelligence and is defined as intelligence produced by collecting, evaluating and analyzing publicly available information with the purpose of answering a specific intelligence question.

Information versus Intelligence

Although people think information is the same as Intelligence, they are actually not. Information can be gathered in different ways and with different options. Because of different social media and other websites a lot of this information is open-source. This is considered raw data.

It is only once this information is looked at from a critical thinking mindset and analysed that it becomes intelligence.

Conducting OSINT is not simply saving someone’s Instagram friends list or saving pictures from the timeline. When finding information It’s about finding information that is meaningful and applicable to intelligence questions.

Taking the earlier mentioned Instagram example, some intelligence questions might be:

  • “8 of the 10 friends in the list are connected to organized crime, is that a coincidence or does this person has a role?”
  • The last 20 pictures on the timeline is also with someone who is known to threaten you and/or your client

Looking further and deeper into the friends list and the pictures will provide actionable intelligence in support of an investigation.

Security cannot be delivered in fixed measures, that is why we focus on 2 focus areas with our OSINT service. Based on these focus areas, we can then adapt to your wishes to offer you a tailor-made service.

Our focus areas are:

  1. We will check all threats that are made online. We will identify the persons behind the threats in order for you to take precautions.
  2. The OSINT service will be a part of the security detail assigned to a client. In real time we can work with threats that are made in order to alternate security plans if needed.

We gladly will discuss your situation and how our OSINT Services can help you.
